Speccy reddit9/5/2023 ![]() I purchased my Dell XPS 8900, in April of this year 2016. Do you have documentation for your motheerboard ? Perhaps that will tell you in what slot what kind of memory needs to be inserted.Īs can be seen in the screenshots I provided, the RAM sticks are from 2015. How old is your system ? I wouldn't be surprised to see that SPECCY's program code needs to be improved to be able to detect these kind of memory chips. How new/old are these "DDR4" memory chips ? The only time it decides to complain, is when I use DDR4. With DDR2 and DDR3 RAM, speccy identifies it just fine. The day it arrived, speccy still claimed it was ''8.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown So, it wasn't an issue from adding the extra RAM, as it still choked up from the professionally installed ''stock'' RAM. It's a prebuilt Dell XPS 8900, ordered off the Dell website. (Black slot) Slot 1 - 8GB G.Skill DDR4 (White slot) Slot 2 - 4GB Micron Technology DDR4 (Black slot) Slot 3 - 8GB G.Skill DDR4 (White slot) Slot 4 - 4GB Micron Technology DDR4 PC originally came with 8GB of DDR4 the above listed Micron Tech RAM.As for placing the RAM sticks into the correct slots, I'm uncertain what the proper orientation is. ![]() The RAM sticks are snugly within their slots. Here's a screenshot of the summary:Īs you can see, it lists the RAM as DDR4 in Max Bandwidth whilst looking at the specific slots but the ''Type'' is still shown as ''Unknown''. ![]() So, I have 24GB of DDR4 RAM and speccy seems to not want to display the type. Just thought I would register, to post a bug report.
